What Is ATGATT? – FAQ

Meaning, All The Gear All The Time!

The concept to best enjoy motorcycling is to first protect yourself from any injuries related to motorcycling by wearing all your protective motorcycle gear all the time. Motorcycle ATGATT!

Accidents Might Not Be Prevented,
But Injuries Can Be Prevented.

Not going to go into a lecture here about the importance of wearing appropriate motorcycle gear; you might click away. I can do that when you become my patient in the hospital, and then you can’t escape my words or the truth.

Accidents happen, and it is hard to plan for them, but you can.

I have smoke detectors in my home, but I never want to use them.

I wear a seat belt in my car but never want to be convinced it saved my life.

I don’t plan to have an accident, but I do plan for one.

But I’m A Good Rider, So Why ATGATT?

Even if you are a good rider, you might not see that oil on the road, you might not be able to get out of the way of an inattentive texting driver, and you might have a severe motorcycle part failure.

Wear the correct gear: Helmet, eye-wear, gloves, riding jacket( Wear A Motorcycle Jacket All The Time? ), long pants, and footwear.

My Motorcycle Accident Experiences Outside Of The Hospital.

I’ll exclude my experiences on a 911 ambulance too.

I witnessed a very low-speed turn go terribly, and the rider was thrown to the ground at my riding course( A Motorcycle Safety Course Accident? ). It looked like someone picked the rider up, a little air, and slammed him down. He was wearing an actual motorcycle jacket, glove, and helmet. No injury.

I struck a patch of gravel with my foot; after landing hard on my foot on an uneven road, and a high motorcycle seat, I fell and hit my right side on the ground.

I struck my shoulder, but wearing a motorcycle jacket with armor( Alpha Cycle Gear Motorcycle Jacket Review ), I wasn’t hurt. I felt the impact, but the impact was dull compared to what I expected, striking a hard gravel-covered surface.

The bike came down on foot, and I wore boots, a jacket( Alpha Cycle Gear Motorcycle Jacket ), and a helmet( Fuel Full-Face Motorcycle Helmet & Icon AirForm Helmet ). No injury.

Not even to my hands, I was wearing motorcycle gloves( Buy Motorcycle Gloves ).

These two examples were either low or no speed, and we hit the ground hard. Hard enough, I know one of us(mostly me) would have serious injuries.

I wear my gear. If you don’t, you have to say thanks for the job security, although I would survive without so much job security.

Just Me…Newly Licensed.

Hi I’m Tom, A New Motorcycle Rider and Blog Author.

I am a new rider(Pa Learners Permit at the end of 2020, and I received a Pa Motorcycle License in 2021 after passing a Motorcycle Safety Course).

I bought my first motorcycle, a TaoTao TBR7, at the beginning of 2021 and have been doing upgrades on that motorcycle since.

I added to my motorcycle collection by buying a Boom Vader Gen 2 in 2022, and that Grom-Clone motorcycle has been upgraded by me as well.

I continue to ride my Boom Vader Gen 2 motorcycle as well as my TaoTao TBR7 dual-sport bike.

Fun Fact: I’ve only been on one group ride.
