TaoTao TBR7 Exhaust Upgrade Parts Arrived!

I feel the TBR7 motorcycle needs many upgrades and tweaks, and a new motorcycle exhaust is one of them.

Today, I received the awaited, package and here are the unboxing images. Ta-Dah! I was looking at what benefits of upgrading the stock exhaust to an aftermarket exhaust. Here is the list of my TBR7 exhaust upgrade parts I compiled:

TaoTao TBR7 Exhaust Upgrade Benefits:

  1. Getting rid of a stock exhaust so ugly, TaoTao covered it up with a plastic side panel.
  2. Opportunity to customize your TBR7 motorcycle.
  3. Deeper sounding TBR7 exhaust.
  4. Prettier exhaust system for my TBR7.
  5. Lower exhaust resistance for reduced work on the engine. Faster? Maybe.
  6. Cooler to the touch exhaust? Not sure about this… This depends on wrapping my motorcycle exhaust.

Now the new exhaust is a pretty sight compared to the stock motorcycle exhaust. My understanding, the shiny chrome lock will never last. As the motorcycle heats up and changes in operating temperatures, the metal will take on gold, silver, and blue characteristics. I am looking forward to seeing the color changes.

Upgrading the TaoTao TBR7 Exhaust, Don’t Forget New Exhaust Gaskets!!!!

One of the most commonly overlooked parts I find from posts in the forums is the exhaust gasket. These parts are one-time-use, so the original gasket isn’t designed for reuse. Glad I bought a pack, just in case I damage one or two by mistake.

Some people forget to replace it and find there is a leak around the exhaust pipe. A leak around the exhaust pipe is fascinating looking, I didn’t tighten the gasket enough, and flames were shooting out.    The flame shooting out, popping sounds, etc, happened to me. TBR7, and Hawk 250, many of the parts on both motorcycles are interchangeable since they both use the same basic engine design. Both are designed off a dated Honda engine design, that has been copied and modified by China companies, we call these bikes Chonda‘s. If you can’t find a decent part for your bike, expand your search into the other motorcycle type.

Not ready to install the new exhaust, but will keep you guys up to date. Check the blog for follow-ups on my upgrades.

Later TBR7 Exhaust Upgrade Posts.

My TaoTao TBR7 motorcycle has undergone some upgrades related to the exhaust system.

Of course, I did the initial TBR7 Exhaust Upgrade, where I replaced the stock piping and muffler with the more excellent aftermarket motorcycle exhaust system.

Then I later did an exhaust wrap on my TBR7 exhaust system due to motorcycle overheating concerns I had. FYI: I found many benefits to wrapping the motorcycle exhaust in hindsight. It looks good and helped reduce the heat on my leg and the engine.

Also after upgrading both my TBR7 and my Boom Vader motorcycles, I wanted to review some of the products I used in general: My Chinese Motorcycle Exhaust Review

I hope you find these posts informative and look forward to your feedback.

Thank you!
