Ordered My Boom Vader Exhaust Upgrade Parts (A Dummy).

Why “Dummy” Comment? Read along, learn from my ordering my Boom Vader exhaust upgrade parts mistakes.

No, initially, I intended to keep my Boom Vader Gen 2 as stock as possible for the break-in period ( My Boom Vader Gen 2 Will Stay Stock, For Now, Except? ), but even then, I had to do upgrades/changes to this Grom Clone to make the motorcycle more ridable ( Boom Vader (Grom Clone) Front Sprocket Size Upgrade Time! ). Now that the Boom Vader has a few hundred miles under its belt and a couple of oil changes time to do performance upgrades. First was the carburetor, and now I ordered my Boom Vader exhaust upgrade parts.

My Intentions for Upgrading the Exhaust On My Boom Vader?

More power! Better Sound!

Well, that is everything we all want. With the sprocket upgrade ( 17t Upgraded Front Sprocket Boom Vader Top Speed Test. ), I saw increased top-end speed, and now I’m trying to improve the acceleration, hill-climbing, and redlining on level ground with engine upgrades. First was the Boom Vader’s carburetor, and now is the exhaust.

I asked around for a good-sounding, low resistance exhaust setup that could be an easy drop-in upgrade for my Boom Vader. I got together a list of exhaust upgrade parts and saved them to my Amazon list.

Low resistance, drop-in exhaust piping.

Many people said this exhaust piping upgrade is a drop-in solution to the exhaust upgrade. No bending of piping like necessary with exhausts designed for real Honda Groms. And connects easily to the rear set. I guess I’ll find out.

Low resistances, good sounding Grom Clone Muffler.

I read this muffler is slip-on and sounds excellent. Again, this is based on my research, and I hope this Grom Clone muffler lives up to my expectations.

Don’t forget Gaskets.

Yes, don’t forget gaskets ( Boom Vader Exhaust Gasket Size – FAQ ). I did it on my TaoTao TBR7 and had flames shooting out the engine exhaust port ( TaoTao TBR7 Exhaust Gasket Mystery. ) and very loud popping sounds. It looked and sounded good but not safe. 😀

Update: The gaskets I ordered were the wrong size. Causing me to reuse the old exhaust gasket. When I find the right size, I will re-post the information. For now, the original Boom Vader exhaust gasket was reused by me. Not recommended, but it seems to be working for now.

My Upgrade Order Mistake…

I waited so long and did so much research; by the time I was sure I had a good list of upgrade parts for my Boom Vader, the US supplies were low.

This parts delay happens with all the Boom Vader, other Grom Clones, and motorcycles. Replacement parts are expensive and in short supply.

If I wanted to upgrade today, I should have ordered the parts a month ago from amazon. Now I could go with a local US-based company, but their prices are very high, and I still couldn’t get a guarantee of the part’s arrival.

Being a typical Chonda owner, I do not overspend on parts. 😀

My Boom Vader Exhaust Upgrade Parts Timeline.

I ordered all three parts, Grom Clone exhaust piping, slip-on muffler, and gaskets, on the 25th of May 2022.

It is now the 27th of May.

Sitting in my living room is a box. In the box is a slip-on muffler and gaskets.

Where Is the New Exhaust Piping?

Good questions. The other upgrade parts arrived in two days, but no exhaust piping. When I go to Amazon, I see this in package tracking:

My Boom Vader Gen 2 Exhaust Piping is in China! Not good upgrade planning on my part.

Also, the estimated delivery dates are from June 10th till July 1st.

Just Me…Newly Licensed.

Hi I’m Tom, A New Motorcycle Rider and Blog Author.

I am a new rider(Pa Learners Permit at the end of 2020, and I received a Pa Motorcycle License in 2021 after passing a Motorcycle Safety Course).

I bought my first motorcycle, a TaoTao TBR7, at the beginning of 2021 and have been doing upgrades on that motorcycle since.

I added to my motorcycle collection by buying a Boom Vader Gen 2 in 2022, and that Grom-Clone motorcycle has been upgraded by me as well.

I continue to ride my Boom Vader Gen 2 motorcycle as well as my TaoTao TBR7 dual-sport bike.

Fun Fact: I’ve only been on one group ride.
